It was a rainy Tuesday evening as New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy visited Rowan University to not only discuss the state of New Jersey politics, but also address some of the future plans the state has in store in regards to affordability, the economy, and job growth.

Community gathers outside Wellness Center to discuss mental health following student’s fall from RoBo garage

This afternoon, following an incident at the Rowan Boulevard parking garage, students and faculty came together to discuss issues revolving around the Wellness Center and its handling of student mental health.

The impromptu meeting was held on the front steps of the Wellness Center. Discussion between participants focused on the experiences of themselves and those of people they know, as well as what improvements they think could be made at Rowan.

Student falls from Rowan Boulevard parking garage

At approximately noon today, an incident involving a student occurred at the Rowan Boulevard parking garage, as confirmed by Rowan Public Safety.

A male student fell from the parking garage near the Barnes & Noble and is in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital, according to an email to the university community by Joe Cardona, the vice president for university relations. Cardona declined to comment about the incident outside of the information provided in the email.

News broke on Thursday, December 5, of a Rowan student’s alleged fall from the parking garage on Rowan Boulevard. The news sent shockwaves across Rowan University, in a community already reeling from three suicide deaths throughout the semester. 

During the week, Rowan students expressed their frustration with both the Wellness Center and the administration online; as many believed Rowan isn’t doing enough in tackling the growing mental health crisis within its students student body.
